Flush Ceiling lights
Lumination's flush ceiling lights are chosen for rooms where ceiling height is limited and a hanging pendant or chandelier is not practical. Every fitting in this range sits close to the ceiling surface, keeping the clearance below the fitting as generous as possible. Browse flush and semi-flush options from Endon, DAR Lighting, Westlite and Saxby across contemporary, traditional and transitional styles.

Frequently Asked Questions
A flush ceiling light sits directly against the ceiling surface with no gap between the fitting and the ceiling, giving it the lowest possible profile, typically 5 to 12 cm below the ceiling. A semi-flush light has a short drop, usually 15 to 30 cm, creating more visual presence and allowing the fitting to be a more prominent design feature. Flush fittings are the practical choice for ceilings at or below 2.4 m. Semi-flush fittings work well in rooms between 2.4 m and 2.7 m where a pendant or chandelier would be too dramatic. At Lumination's Taunton showroom both styles are displayed so you can compare scale directly.
Measure your room in square metres and multiply by the diameter in centimetres recommended for that space. As a rule, a 10 m2 room suits a fitting of 30 to 40 cm in diameter, while a 20 m2 open-plan space can accommodate a fitting of 50 to 70 cm. For corridors and landings, a narrower fitting of 20 to 30 cm avoids overwhelming the space. Lumination lists the diameter of every flush ceiling light on the product page. With 25 years of specialism and a team available by phone from our Taunton office, we can help you confirm the right size before you order.
Flush ceiling lights sold for general indoor use carry IP20 ratings, which means they are not suitable for bathrooms. For bathroom use you need an IP44 rated fitting as a minimum, which is suitable for Zone 2 (areas beyond 60 cm from the bath or shower). For Zone 1 directly above the bath or shower, IP65 is required. Lumination stocks a dedicated range of bathroom ceiling lights with confirmed IP ratings for every zone. Never install a standard flush ceiling light in a bathroom zone without checking the IP rating, as this is a building regulation requirement in the UK.
For a bedroom of 10 m2, a flush ceiling light delivering 800 to 1,200 lumens at 2,700 K creates a warm, comfortable ambient light. A living room of 20 m2 needs 1,500 to 2,500 lumens if the ceiling light is the sole source, or 800 to 1,200 lumens if floor lamps and table lamps supplement it. Kitchens need higher output: 2,500 to 4,000 lumens at 3,000 K to 4,000 K for clear task visibility. Lumination lists lumen output and colour temperature for every fitting in this range, rated by 1,797 or more customers at 4.8 stars on Google for accuracy and service.
Lumination stocks flush ceiling lights from Endon, DAR Lighting, Westlite, Saxby and Franklite. Endon and Westlite lead our contemporary flush range with integrated LED modules and slim profiles. All brands are selected by Lumination's buying team, which has been sourcing lighting from specialist manufacturers for more than 25 years from our base in Somerset.
